About Automotive Service Excellence (ASE)

The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization that certifies and promotes excellence among automotive service, repair and parts distribution professionals. ASE develops and administers certification tests, maintains credentials for technicians and service professionals, provides resources for employers, students and drivers, and recognizes ASE-accredited facilities (including the Blue Seal program). The organization serves technicians, employers, students/instructors and vehicle owners and reports that over a quarter of a million individuals hold ASE certifications. ASE has operated since 1972.
