About

The Centro Nacional de Pesquisa em Energia e Materiais (CNPEM) is a Brazilian multidisciplinary, multi-user research center focused on frontier science and technological infrastructure. Supervised by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovations (MCTI) and working with national partners, CNPEM operates national laboratories in areas including synchrotron light (Sirius), biosciences, biorenewables, nanotechnology and scientific instrumentation. The center provides open-access, high-complexity facilities, supports in-house research, innovation partnerships with industry, technology transfer, training and outreach, and runs Ilum — a free undergraduate program in Science and Technology.
