About
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) is a private, not-for-profit research and education institution founded in 1890 and headquartered on Long Island, New York. CSHL conducts biomedical and quantitative biology research with major programs in cancer, neuroscience, plant biology, genomics, and bioinformatics. The Laboratory employs roughly 1,000 people (including ~600 scientists, students and technicians), houses a graduate school and an academic publishing arm, and runs extensive Meetings & Courses and public education programs on campuses in Long Island and Suzhou, China. CSHL is noted for its history of influential discoveries and association with eight Nobel Prize winners.
