Dienst Justitiële Inrichtingen (DJI) is the Dutch government agency responsible for carrying out custodial sentences and deprivation-of-liberty measures. With around 16,000 staff working across approximately 50 locations, DJI provides daily care and supervision for adults and juveniles in penitentiary institutions, works on rehabilitation and preparation for return to society, and contributes to public safety in the Netherlands.
