Forsvaret is the Danish Defence — the national armed forces responsible for Denmark's sovereignty, national emergency tasks, and participation in NATO and international missions. It includes the Army, Navy and Air Force and provides civil support services.

Forsvaret (the Danish Defence) is Denmark's national armed forces responsible for upholding the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Denmark and contributing to national and international security and emergency preparedness. It comprises the Army (Hæren), the Navy (Søværnet) and the Air Force (Flyvevåbnet), operates domestically (including in the Realm/Kingdom territories such as Greenland), supports civil tasks (search and rescue, fisheries inspection, environmental monitoring and pollution response), and participates in international missions, NATO operations and peacekeeping when mandated by the Danish Parliament. Forsvaret is also a major employer and an education and training institution for conscripts and professional personnel.
