The Institute for Electronic Music and Acoustics (IEM) at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Graz) is an academic and research institute focused on artistic research, electronic and computer music, sound and media art, signal processing and acoustics. Founded in 1965, IEM combines artistic practice with experimental research and development, provides specialized infrastructure for interdisciplinary projects, and promotes creation and presentation of new works in electronic music, sound and media arts. It also hosts lectures, concerts, and research-led teaching in composition, sound art and spatial audio.
