Rails Girls is a global non-profit volunteer community that runs workshops and produces open-source guides to help women and gender minorities learn basic web development using the Ruby on Rails framework. Born in Finland, Rails Girls offers hands-on events focused on sketching, prototyping and basic programming to make technology more approachable, and organizes programs such as the Rails Girls Summer of Code to encourage participation in open source.
