About
Scientific Linux is an Enterprise Linux distribution rebuilt and maintained for scientific and research environments, sponsored by Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. It was created to provide a stable, site-customizable Linux platform for laboratories, universities and research institutions. The project provided downloads, documentation, community support resources, and guidance for deployments; the distribution reached end-of-life on June 30, 2024, and users are directed to Fermilab/CERN recommendations for alternative Linux distributions.
