About

The Dictionary of Victorian London is an online archive and research resource created and maintained by historian Lee Jackson. Launched in 2001, the site aggregates several thousand pages of primary sources—nineteenth-century journalism, diaries, social investigations, guidebooks, cartoons and other materials—that document the social history and everyday life of Victorian London. Although no longer actively updated, the site remains a widely used reference for students, writers, researchers and anyone interested in nineteenth-century London. The site is also linked to related e-book offerings and the author's print publications on Victorian urban history.
